Software Engineer – Visual Quality
Are you a Software Engineer with outstanding Python skills? Do you want to work in the forefront of video compression? Working on our Visual Quality test framework you will have the opportunity to develop and maintain new features and integrations, which will help us further prove how effective our technology is. Working within an Agile team (scrum based), you will be able to contribute to the content of sprints and influence the direction of development. V-Nova, a London based IP and software company, is dedicated to improving data compression by building a vast portfolio of innovative technologies based on the game-changing use of AI and parallel processing for data, video, imaging, and point cloud compression, with applications across several verticals. This is achieved through deep-science R&D (1000+ international patents) and the development of products that test, prove and continuously enhance the technology portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Continue to develop and maintain the existing comprehensive in-house test framework for testing quality aspects of our codec related products.
- Integrate new encoder or playback tools or applications into the Visual Quality test framework.
- Participate in selecting the most appropriate tools and infrastructure for Visual quality in the test framework.
- Review requirements, agree acceptance criteria and refer to project/system documentation to clarify and define the necessary tests.
- You will troubleshoot, research the root cause, thoroughly resolve defects whilst maintaining ongoing communication with stakeholders.
- Schedule and request use of test environments, appropriate test data to support Test Plans.
- Launch testing cycles of a variety of content and use cases to test our codecs and their integrations into different video encode and playback scenarios.
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies providing input into planning and refinement meetings each sprint along with daily stand-up meetings.
Qualifications
- Strong experience developing software using Python and Flask.
- Comfortable providing clear accurate progress updates and able to document requirements, work completed.
- Experience developing basic SQL with experience working with modern databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
- Working experience using Linux as a development platform.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as REST, HTTP, JSON, and Docker.
- Methodical and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Experience working in an Agile environment on projects using Scrum or Kanban and tools such as Jira.
- An understanding of the end-to-end software development life cycle.
- Basic understanding of Continuous Integration environments covering source code repositories, version control, build creation, unit, integration, and system tests.
Desirable skills:
- Exposure to commonly used test frameworks such as Pytest, Google Test Framework, JUnit, JMeter.
- Experience with AI tools for automation and development.
- Use of at least 1 BDD testing tool such as Spock or Cucumber (Cucumber preferred).
- Worked with AWS cloud solutions.
- An understanding of system architecture and basic concepts of networking for networking traffic testing and debugging.
- Understanding of video and common compression features, particularly video or video quality metrics.
- Understanding of broadcast video techniques and technology – HD-SDI & 3G-SDI Over IP.
- Data analytics or data science experience.
- Skilled with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and Node is a bonus.
- Previous experience working with Test Automation tools for Mobile devices – Android & iOS.
- Any experience in UI testing using Cypress/JS/TS code for automation.
