About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Capital Project Manager to join our team on an interim basis for 6 months. You will play a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery of new build housing projects and major infrastructure initiatives within the South East of England. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a range of high-profile projects that will shape the local community for years to come.
As a Capital Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects from inception through to completion. This will involve managing budgets, timelines, and resources, while liaising with key stakeholders, including contractors, designers, and council departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage new build housing and major infrastructure projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
Oversee procurement and tendering processes, managing contractors and consultants to achieve project goals.
Monitor and manage project progress, identifying and mitigating risks and issues to ensure projects stay on track.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and quality standards.
Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management and elected members.
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in managing large-scale capital projects, ideally in housing or infrastructure.
Strong understanding of project management processes, including risk management, procurement, and budget control.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and drive results.
Experience of working within local government or public sector projects is highly desirable.
Ability to hit the ground running and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Relevant project management qualifications (e.g., Prince2, APM) are preferred but not essential.
